PANEL № 3 Priorities of the inter-confessional dialogue in establishing a spiritual climate in Europe
The problem of establishing a broad public dialogue lies in the following: the main public forces and participants of international cooperation are usually oriented towards upholding their own positions, towards convincing others of their own rightness and implanting their own reasoning. On the contrary, religion has always called for taking the point of view of common human truth, to escape from the framework of one’s own, inevitably temporary terrestrial reasoning and to open for oneself the road to renewal and perfecting one’s stance.
The deep-lying traditions and the potentials of religious organizations and inter-church contacts will make a priceless contribution to the matter of perfecting the public dialogue and at the same time, will provide a practical sphere for implementing the truths and strengthening of their revelations.
Main vectors of discussion:
- social orientation of the confessional programs;
- inter-confessional dialogue and international cooperation.

PANEL № 4 Contemporary European problems of mobility and migration and their impact on the future of Europe
Population mobility is a fundamental condition for the existence of mankind. It is the key factor that forms the image, identity and the future of civilizations.
The processes responsible for the emergence of contemporary megapolises have led to a weakening of man’s ties with territories. In this case, man receives motivation and conditions for frequently resettling to other cities and countries. Moreover, since he remains the bearer of a cultural identity, he acquires the opportunity to spread this cultural identity throughout the world. Nonetheless, this process may be extremely painful and may acquire diverse forms, and in conditions of the contemporary economic crisis, these risks become even more aggravated.
All this underscores the need to find effective mechanisms to socially legitimize population mobility and to avert models of asocial behavior of both new arrivals and local residents.
Main vectors of discussion:
- processes of socio-cultural dynamics and population mobility;
- the religious factor in migration policy;
- social-political motives of migration process in conditions of the crisis;
- international mobility and mechanisms for ensuring social stability
Moderators:
— Brunson McKinley, Co-Chair, Association for International Mobility (AIM) (USA)
