Founding President of the WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations” Vladimir Yakunin took part in the “Dialogue of Cultures between East and West” Symposium, which was held during the Al Janadria Festival in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in March this Year.
Under the patronage of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Al Janadria 24th National Festival for Heritage and Culture, which is an annual event of festivities organized by the National Guard, was held March 4 – 18, 2009 at the headquarter of the traditional village in Janadriyah region in Riyadh.
The Festival started with the Grand Annual Camel Race in which as many as 600 contestants took part.
Russia participated in the 24th Festival this year as a guest of honor for seizing the opportunity for citizens of KSA to be acquainted with the culture of this friendly nation. This tradition of choosing a guest of honor started last year to seek knowledge about the cultures and heritage of brotherly and friendly countries.
The festival dealt at its forums with one of the most important issues of concern to the world entitled "The Cause of Islam and Dialogue of Cultures" that emphasize the interest and attention paid to the issue of dialogue by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
