“The Dialogue of Civilizations in the Contemporary Epoch” – a book by Vladimir Yakunin, President of the WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations”, is to be presented in Athens on October 9. The book that has just been printed by the American publishing house “Cantone Press” has been timed for the opening of the Sixth Session of the WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations” (October 9-13, 2008) that is annually held on the Greek island of Rhodes with the participation of experts, politicians, public and religious dignitaries from all the continents of the world. The book is a collection of articles in which Vladimir Yakunin and his like-minded associates – cofounders of the WPF – American entrepreneur of Greek origin, Nicholas Papanicolaou, and Indian futurologist, Jagdish Kapur, - present their own ideas on the transition from a globalistic world order to post-globalism, to the building of a genuinely open and efficient civil society. They offer a more decentralized system of development instead of the standardized system, namely originality instead of universalism and averaging out the mean. In their opinion, it is precisely in this way that it is possible to achieve genuine mutual understanding among civilizations and a humane attitude of the inhabitants of the planet Earth towards one another, respect for the choice of path of development by different civilizations and their peculiarities.

It is expected that the presentation of the book in Athens will take place in the presence of the ministers of tourism and culture of Greece, and members of the local parliament.

And one day later – on October 11 – already on the Island of Rhodes, the book will be presented to the participants of the Sixth Session of the WPF “Dialogue of Civilizations” that will open there on October 9.
