Assistant Professor, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University International Economic Relations and Tourism Business Department
Since 2010 Elena Shapovalova is assistant professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. She leads teaching courses on “International Relations”, “Ukrainian Culture”, “World Tourism”, “Public Policy and Conflict Management”.
She obtained her education at Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations ”Kharkiv Collegium” (Specialist diploma with honor (2005 – 2006), Bachelor degree with honor (2001 – 2005) and at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Master degree with honor (2005 – 2006), Bachelor degree with honor (2001 –2005), Ph.D. (2006 –2009).
From 2008 to 2010 she worked in the project “Responsibility to Protect Minorities - Is the Kin State a Problem or a Solution”.
She also served in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Directorate General for Political Affairs, Directorate General for Economic Cooperation.
She is the author of more than 30 publications including “The role of Russia as a kin-state to protect the Russian minority in Ukraine” (Blood and Borders: The Responsibility to Protect and the Problem of the Kin-State. – United Nations University Press, Tokyo-New York-Paris, 2011), “Tasks of My Generation” (Vestnik of the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations”, Russia and the new global architecture. - Moscow, 2004), etc.
She is the member of Kharkiv National University Asia Center and EuroClub in National Medical University.
