Hedayat Abdel Nabi graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Medord Mass / US and the John Hopkins University, Washington DC / US.
She is a journalist, co-founder of the Press Emblem Campaign (PEC) and its president since 2004.

Her former position is a president of the Association of Correspondents at the UN (ACANU) from 2003 to 2005, corresponding to the UN in Geneva to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) from 1999 to 2010 and for Al Ahram since 2010. She worked for the Egyptian daily Al Ahram from 1971 to 1993 before joining the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) from 1997 to 1999.

She is also coordinator of the International Covenant for the Protection of Journalists, founded in 2007 and author of many publications, the most recent are: "Dialogue with Celebrities" (2004), "Dreams and Aspirations" (2009).
