The Musical Olympus Festival Returns to Berlin with the Motto “Music – for Peace”

On November, 14, 2014 the Musical Olympus Festival will present its participants on stage of the Chamber Music Hall at the Berliner Philharmoniker. Last time the festival’s participants performed on this stage in 2011.

On the gala night one of the best concert halls in Germany will host the stars of the Musical Olympus: Igor Yeliseev (double bass, Russia), Marc Bouchkov (violin, Belgium), Rémi Geniet, (piano, France), as well as tenor Mario Chang (Guatemala).

All performers are prize winners of prestigious international musical competitions and participants of the Musical Olympus festival in St Petersburg.

“Our festival presents young musicians chosen regardless of their nationality, residence or religious beliefs, exclusively for their creative potential and professionalism. Music is a truly universal language that needs no translation, yet can bring people together in a united emotional tune.  This concert of the Musical Olympus at the Berliner Philharmoniker takes place on the backdrop of a complex international environment. However, it is my profound belief that it spreads kindness and peace in the current atmosphere of political tension and confrontation.  The motto of the concert is “Music – for peace”,” says Irina Nikitina, President of the Musical Olympus Foundation.

It is not the first time that the concert participants will perform together – in spring 2014 they conquered Carnegie Hall within the annual presentation of the Musical Olympus Festival in New York. Then they brilliantly performed rare Giovanni Bottesini’s Gran Duo Concertante for violin and double bass, thus demonstrating not only their outstanding solo skills, but also a virtuoso ensemble technique. The piece will also be presented at the concert in Berlin.

Another present to the public will be the performance of Mario Chang who has recently (in September) won the Operalia, one of the most prestigious vocal contests in the world founded and managed by Placido Domingo.

The concert programme will feature the works by F. Kreisler, S. Rachmaninoff, М. Bruch, G. Bottesini, E. Ysaÿe, P. Tchaikovsky, and opera arias.

Concerts of the Musical Olympus Festival at Berlin Philharmonie are organized with the support of the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations”.
